The success of direct selling in Canada is attributed to the increasing interest of Canadians in supplemental income opportunities. The pursuit for additional income opportunities saw an 11% increase in 2022 compared to the previous year. The pandemic and the inflationary pressures added another 7% of Canadians to the interest group.

Canada experienced a positive growth (+.8%) for a three-year period from 2019-2022. However, the retail sales for the year 2022 saw a decline by 18.4%. The Canadian direct selling market recorded $2593 million in annual retail sales in 2023. Canada falls under the mid-penetration zone with a penetration rate of 0.110% as per the WFDSA 2023 report.

The Canadian direct selling industry has 1,143,000 sellers among which 84% are women.
