Direct sales used to be popular mainly with the promotion of household and wellness products. Although the global direct selling market dipped by 0.05% in 2024, the three-year CAGR (2020–2023) showed mixed trends: the Americas at -2.8%, Asia/Pacific at -0.3%, and Europe at +0.2% (Source: WFDSA 2024 Stats Report).
The number of persons selling products or services through the direct sales model decreased by 12 percent, to 5.4 million entrepreneurs selling on a part-time or full-time basis in the United States. The direct sales channel had 104.3 million preferred customers and discounted buyers in 2024. This clearly indicates that the industry and direct selling as a marketing concept has garnered much attention and trust from consumers over the years.
In 2024, the US direct selling market generated $34.7 billion in retail sales with 12.2 million independent representatives, while India experienced notable growth, reaching $3.44 billion in sales and 8.62 million representatives, marking an 11.8% increase from the previous year. The Korean market also dipped slightly to $15.06 billion with 8.09 million distributors.
