Direct Selling Round Up April 2026
FTC rulemaking review DSA response

DSA welcomes review of FTC rule making

House Appropriations Financial Services and General Government Subcommittee and its chairman, Dave Joyce, were commended for reviewing the Federal Trade Commission’s rulemaking powers. Dave Joyce included Section 508 in the 2026 budget proposal which mandates FTC to prove the necessity of new rules before making them.

The rules that are being reviewed are mainly about earnings and business opportunity claims made by companies. Dave Grimaldi, CEO of DSA stated, “Direct selling has made meaningful investments in strengthening self-regulation and consumer safeguards, and we are committed to working constructively with the FTC to ensure any approach reflects those efforts and delivers effective outcomes for consumers and those building businesses within this model. We appreciate Chairman Joyce’s leadership and look forward to continuing that engagement.”

The Direct Selling Association also stated that the Subcommittee’s actions show the concern of Congress about FTC’s rule makings.

Nu Skin Prysm iO nutrition scanning device

Nu Skin launches Prysm iO in the US

Nu Skin Enterprises’ nutritional wellness platform, Prysm iO, designed to provide users with a smart personalized daily nutrition and supplement routines, was launched for the US market. The AI-powered platform is a small circular device that uses advanced skin scanning technology to perform non-invasive imaging of a user’s fingertip. In 15 seconds, the device measures carotenoids which are antioxidants that support immunity and health in brain, heart, skin, and cells.

The platform uses patent-pending Spectral Rai Technology that is capable of capturing 700,000 hyperspectral absorption measurements in each scan. It generates a “Nutritional Health Score” for each user and routines are recommended based on the results.

“People today are more invested in their health than ever before, but for too long, wellness decisions have been based on guesswork. Prysm iO changes that by giving everyday consumers access to precise, personalized nutritional insights and a clearer understanding of whether their daily choices are making a meaningful difference. It offers a science-backed way to make wellness decisions with greater confidence and build a more informed relationship with their health,” said Dr. Joe Chang, Scientific Advisory Board Chair, Nu Skin.
