Delaware House Bill 162 proceedings paused until 2026
The Delaware House Bill 162, also known as “anti-direct selling” legislation, will not be attended to by the Senate until January 2026. The Bill has been opposed by the DSA and industry leaders for the serious concerns it holds for direct selling businesses.
Leaders believe that the bill can create adverse consequences for legally compliant businesses in the region. DSA has been parallelly holding meetings and discussions with law makers to amend the bill. “We appreciate the willingness of Representative Melanie Ross Levin and Senator Stephanie Hansen to hear our concerns and work with us on revisions that strengthened the bill’s clarity and protect consumers. While this legislative session is ending, our collaboration with Delaware lawmakers will continue,” said Dave Grimaldi, CEO of the Direct Selling Association.
The bill is crucial for direct selling businesses operating in Delaware. Even though the direct selling community strongly opposed the bill, it was still passed in the Delaware House with a 27–11 vote.
